Race Details
Runners will be required to have a good headtorch, and to carry full body cover, a map and compass (just in case they got lost in the woods at night in the middle of winter). A spare torch is also a really good idea.
As usual the course will be well marked with reflective canes.
If you think you will be coming to the race it would be very helpful if you could register in advance using the link above.
This is free and does not imply any commitment, but will speed up the registration process. Pay when you collect your number.
Pre-registration will give us and the cafe some idea of how many runners there are likely to be.
This year Out & Back Store in Aberdeen and Norwegian head torch brand Moonlight Mountain Gear are offering up to 20 entrants at each race the opportunity to try out one of their head torches for free. If you would like to take advantage of this, please e-mail info@outandbackstore.com once you have signed up they will confirm your test product.

- Ladies – Sally Wallis (2024) – 39.35
Start Location and Route
Registration and prize giving will be at the DEESIDE ACTIVITY PARK, DESS, ABOYNE AB34 5BN.
The cafe will be serving teas, coffees, cakes and soup so bring some cash.
The route is a bit complicated, consisting of a steep climb followed by some lovely running over grassy fields (the right hand loop on the map), then a loop on mostly single track paths in the woods (left hand loop) with another stiff climb, then the first loop again followed by a very fast descent to the finish.
